Source: Crawfordsville Review Tuesday April 18, 1916
John L. McCOY aged
47 residing at 623 E. Pike Street died this morning at 1:30 of an acute
form of heart trouble from which he had suffered for some weeks, but
the fatal attack had its inception after Mr. McCoy returned home from
business Monday evening. A physician was called at 8 o'clock in the
evening and found the patient suffering, but it was thought to be an
attack similar to others that he had undergone and that it would respond
to treatment. At near midnight he grew worse and the end came at the
hour stated. The deceased was born in Putnam Co and was a member of a
large family of children. He lived for a time in Greencastle, Rockville
and Waveland. He was married to Bessie Wolfe, daughter of the late Aaron
Wolfe, and to this union 3 boys were born: Lockwood, Leland and
William. These with the widow survive. Mr. McCoy moved to Crawfordsville
3 years ago. Last fall he bought the Kelly grocery on W. Main Street
and was conducting a successful business at this stand. He was a
member of the Methodist Church in this city having transferred his
membership here. He was also a member of the local Elks. The
arrangements for the funeral will be completed this morning. - typed by kbz
