McClaren - Weldon

LADOGA - Weldon D. McClaren, 59, of New Albany, died at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Floyd County Hospital there. He had been a patient since suffering a stroke Aug. 27. Mr. McClaren was well known in this area and over the state as a horseman and saddle club member. A graduate of New Albany High School, he attended Purdue University and until last year operated the Sunshine Hatcheries at Corydon and New Albany. Since then he had been in the brokerage business in New Albany. He was active in the Methodist Church and several civic organizations there. He was married Feb. 3, 1929 to Lenore Seybold of Waveland in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Barnard of Ladoga. She survives with a son, Richard; daughter-in-law, Jean; two grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Joe T. McClaren, and two brothers, all of New Albany, and three nieces in Washington, D.C. Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Friday at Dieckman Funeral Home in New Albany, with burial there. - jlr
