Mrs. Amanda Jane McCLAIN, widow of George W. McClain died at her home SE of New Market Friday after an illness of a few months with heart trouble and complications. Funeral services at the home on Monday afternoon were in charge of Rev. W.H. Newlin. Burial in Ladoga cemetery. Mrs. McClain was the daughter of Nicholas and Cynthia CRUTCHFIELD and was born in Parke County June 24, 1852. She married George W. McClain in March 1870. She lived for 53 years on the farm where she died. For the past 4 years, Mr. and mrs. AB McClain have lived with her and taken care of her. She is survived by 3 daughtesr: Mrs. Laura Browning and Mrs. Lottie Powers of near New Market and Mrs. Elizabeth Tribby of Greencastle; two sons, AB McClain at whose home she died and Ernest McClain of Dayton, Ohio, 16 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Two sons, Earl and Lee preceded her in death. - transcribed by kbz
