Funeral services for Hugh A. McCarty, who died here Thursday, are announced for 2 p.m. Saturday at Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown, with interment in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Rev. John Servies and Rev. Morris Finch will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Friday. Mr. McCarty, born March 18, 1873, in Ewing, Ky., to John E. and Mary Ann Groves McCarty, came to Indiana in 1896. He was a member of the Waynetown Christian Church and for the past 70 years of the Waynetown Masonic Lodge. At the time of his death he was the oldest member of the lodge. His wife, the former Ella Ball, preceded him in death in 1953. A son, Clarence, and grandson, Jerry, also are deceased. A daughter, Alma, with whom he lived in Crawfordsville the past 20 years; another daughter, Mrs. Wintress Stark of Toledo; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren are among survivors. - jlr

Hugh A. McCarty, 93, long time resident of Waynetown and Crawfordsville died at Culver Hospital about 11 a.m. Thursday. He had been a patient there since Sunday. Born March 17, 1873, in Ewing, KY he was the yougnest of 9 children born to John Ellet and Mary ann Groves McCarty. He moved to Waynetown in 1896 and spent the rest of his life in Montgomery County. He married Lucinda Ellen Ball in Waynetown Dec 23, 1902. She preceded him in death. He had spent the past 20 years in Crawfordsville with a daughter, Alma McCarty of 1411 W. Market St. He was also preceded in death by a son and grandson. Survivors include the daughter, Alma, a second daughter, Mrs. Wintress Stark of Toledo, Ohio; 3 grandsons; a granddaughter, two great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown is in harge of funeral arrangements. -- kbz
