Guy Otis McCance, 95, of Crawfordsville passed away at 11:14 p.m. Sunday, October 2, 201`6, at Franciscan Health Crawfordsville.
Hew was born May 28, 1921, at New Ross, to Floyd Otis and Mary Elizabeth (Stevens) McCance. He first married Roberta Macy on February 7, 1942, at Waynetown. She preceded him in death May 21, 1968. He then married Jeanette Walter on October 23, 1971, at Crawfordsville. She preceded him in death July 4, 2005.
Guy retired after 32 years with RR Donnelley, where he he had been a hoist driver. He was a 1939 graduate of Alamo High School, where he played baseball and basketball and played guard on the 1938 basketball team that won the Montgomery County Tournament. He also was a World War II Army veteran; a Yountsville Community Church member; a Donnelley Club member; and a Waveland American Legion Post # 323 member.
He is survived by his children, Karen (George) Venis and Larry McCance, both of Crawfordsville, and Davis (kay) McCance of Lafayette; daughter-in-law Ramona (Loren Overby) McCance of Crawfordsville; sisters, Maxine Perkins and Bonnie (Dale) Cohee, both of Crawfordsville; grandchildren, Kristina Tomey, Aimee Driesen, Kaylene Patton, Ryan Venis, Casey McCance, Robert McCance, Morgan McCance, and Michelle Shultheis, and 16 great-grandchildren.
In addtition to his wives, he was preceded in death by son Michael in 2007; grandson Timothy Venis; daughter-in-law Pam McCance in 2002; and his parents.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, October 7, 2016, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, with the Rev. Doman Winger officiating. Burial will follow in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 5-8 p.m. Thursday, October 6, 2016.
