Amanda E. Munns, daughter of John S. and Malinda Munns was born near Yountsville, Montgomery County, Indiana March 10, 1839. She was married to William L. Galey at the age of 19. Mr. Galey died Oct 5, 1886, leaving her a widow with their only child, Clara, now Mrs. C.H. Walden of New Market. On June 22, 1888, she was married again. This time to Rev. Hugh McCalip, who thus has been deprived of wifely companionship by death. She had made profession of religion in girlhood and united with the ME Church at Yountsville, but soon after her marriage to Mr. Galey she united with the Baptist Church at Crawfordsville, where they were ___. Afterward she and her husband transferred their membership to Bethel Baptist Church which was located near the farm which they owned and on which they lived in the Wesley neighborhood. At the time of death she was a member of the Baptist Church at New Market. She died in the home on the farm east of New Market, which she and her former husband had purchased, and to which they moved in 1874. Mrs. McCalip had those wifely maternal and home making qualities, which made her one among the best of women in these respects. She was a good neighbor and faithful member of the church. She was afflicted for a number of years and finally died of apoplexy at 8 p.m. Sunday Feb 11, 1912. Mrs McCalip leaves besides the husabnd and daughter, three brothers, other more distant relatives and many neighbors and friends to mourn the great loss occasioned by her removal. As a believer in the Lord, Jese Christ to her personal Savior, she died in the Lord and her works will follow her. The funeral occurred at the home at 10 o'clock Wednesday, Feb 14, 1912, conducted by Rev. JM Kendall of Bunker Hill, Ind. A special friend to the family. The body was buried at Wesley beside the grave of her former husband. - kbz
