Marvin "Rail" Maxwell, 63, of Darlington, a 35-year employee of R.R. Donnelley died Saturday in Methodist Hospital at Indianapolis after a six-month illness. Mr. Maxwell had celebrated his 35th anniversary with Donnelley's in October. A 1939 graduate of Darlington HS he had operated a greenhouse in Darlington for 20 years. He was a member of the Christian Church, Masonic Lodge and American Legion all of Darlington. He also was a WWII veteran. He was born in Montgomery County October 24, 1917 a son of Austin C and Effie M. Evans Maxwell. He was married to Elizabeth Jane Doty on December 7, 1942 at Indianapolis. She survives. Also surviving are 3 sons, Jamie E of Decatur and Michael L and Stephan A of Darlington; a daughter, Mrs. Melvin (Martha M ) Routh of New Ross; and 8 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Burkhart Fun Home's Darlington Chapel with the Rev. Robert Binkley officiating. Burial is in Oak Hill Cemetery at Crawfordsville. Masonic services will be conducted at 8 o'clock tonight at the funeral home. Friends may call at the funeral home.
