Jerry S. Matracia, 79, of 205 W. Jefferson St., retired wholesale fruit dealer and for 55 years a resident of Crawfordsville, died Thursday afternoon in Culver Hospital, where he was a patient three weeks. He had been in failing health several years. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and the Eagles Lodge. Mr. Matracia was a native of Italy, born April 22, 1891 to Augustino and Guitana Mascari Matracia. He attended school in Boston and was married in June of 1912 to Josephine Guiliana at Louisville. They began housekeeping in Indianapolis and moved to this city in 1915. Surviving are his wife; three sons, Gus and Salvadore of Lafayette and Joseph J. of Lawrenceville, Ill.; a daughter, Mrs. John M. (Guitana) Irvin of Waynetown; seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. A son, Michael, died in 1949. Funeral rites will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Bernard Church with Rt. Rev. Msgr. Henry F. Ward officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call after 7 p.m. Saturday at Bright & Burkhart Funeral Home, where the Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Sunday.
