MASTERSON, John Studebaker

John Studebaker Masterson died at the family residence, 1109 S. 185h St, at 10:45 o’clock this morning of the infirmities of age. He was born in Drake (sic) County, Ohio, Feb 29, 1822 but when young located in Wells County, Ind. He also lived in Montgomery County for a number of years before coming to Lafayette 12 years ago. His wife died 13 years ago and Mr. Masterson had since made his home with his son, John Masterson. Mr. Masterson was a man of strict integrity and died rich in the esteem of all who knew him. He was a retired farmer and was well known throughout Tippecanoe and Montgomery counties. He leaves the following children: Mrs. John Oswalt of Wingate; Mrs. CW Winter of Detroit, Mich; Mrs. JR Green; Mrs. JM Baker; Mrs. SO Royal; John E; Stowe S and Charles W. Masterson of this city. He also leaves several grandchildren. .The burial will be at Farmer’s Institute but the time has not been set. --- kbz
