Edward J. Marvin, son of John and Margaret Marvin, was born March 20, 1865, at Loda, Illinois, and passed away at his home in Veedersburg, Indiana, Monday morning August 21, 1939 at the age of 74 years 5 months 1 day. Death was due to a complication of diseases. He was united in marriage to May Perigo of Boswell, Indiana Oct 4, 1902 at Greensboro, NC. To this union was born one child, a son, Clifford who with his mother, remain to mourn the loss of their loved one. Mr. Marvin's genial spirit and generous hospitality were known and enjoyed by many and earned for him a host of friends and warm acquaintances. It was this characteristic which enabled him to hold with merit, the position of district superintendnt for the International Harvester Company for 19 years a position from which he would soon have earned a retirement except for the onset of ill health which forced him to a more quiet life. After a few years he became manager of the Veedersburg Grain Comapny and then manager of Sinclair Oil Company bulk plant at Veedersburg. Some time later he gave these up to become associated with the Cities Service Oil Company in which business he continued until his death. His chiefcomforts in his declining years wer ehis great love for flowers and uusual plants, his home and the untiring devotion of his wife and son, who patiently cared for him during his last severe illness of several months. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Boswell, his former home. Family survivors besides his wife and son are one brother, Filliam (sic - William?) with wife and daughter, Mrs. Charles Duncan; and one sister, Lyda Morris, husband and son, George of Shelbyville, Indidna; a brother-in-law, George Pacy with two sons, Marvin and Eddie, and two daughters, Nellie Riggs and Gladys. Also several cousins, among whom was a faithful and devoted cousin, Mrs. C. Wesley Smith and family of Veedersburg - kbz
