Martyn - John Lyle (Rev)

Word has been received here of the death of Rev. John Lyle Martyn, which occurred on May 3 at Oxford, Iowa. For several years Mr. Martyn was a resident of this city and was pastor of the Presbyterian Church at Waveland and other points in the county. At the time of his death, he had been preacher for nearly 60 years and was abundant in labors for Christ.

Died at Marshalltown, Iowa, April 28th, 1893, Dr. John Lyle Martyn, aged 48 years, formerly a captain in the 38th Indiana Volunteers, a student at Waveland Academy and a resident of Crawfordsville. He was a graduate of the Iowa State University and had practiced medicine for 23 years past. He was a gallant officer throughout the entire war and was buried with military honors by the Grand Army.
