Maggie May Martin, 89, of New Market, died at 5:40 a.m. today in National Health Nursing Home in Danville, Ill. She was a housewife and retired practical nurse. She was a member of the New Market Christian Church and New Market Woman’s Club. She was a former member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Crawfordsville Home Economics Club. She was educated in Montgomery County Schools. Born July 1, 1886, she was a daughter of George and Elizabeth Daley Wert of Montgomery County. She married Charlie Martin on Nov. 25, 1903. He preceeded her in death in 1961. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Sabens of New Market; four grandchildren, Mrs. Ellen Faust of Linden, Dale Sabens of Romney, Mrs. Ann Lanum of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Martha Kitsmiller of Creve Coeur, Mo.; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Powers Funeral Home at New Market with the Rev. Duane Clark officiating. Burial will be in Knights of Pythias Cemetery at Mace. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. – jlr
