Mrs. Katie O. Martin, 80, a former Crawfordsville resident and Parke County schoolteacher, died at 6:20 p.m. Friday in Northwest Manor Nursing Home at Indianapolis. She had resided in Indianapolis with a daughter for two years. Mrs. Martin was educated in Parke County schools and Indiana State Teachers College. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church at Crawfordsville. A Parke County native, she was born Jan. 6, 1892, a daughter of Oliver and Francis Owens Thomas. She married Walter O. Martin in 1912. Surviving are a son, Edwin of Munster; two daughters, Mrs. Harriett Crockett of Indianapolis and Mrs. Agnes Worley of Crawfordsville; two sisters, Mrs. Edith Ratcliff of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Mary Call of Clinton; 13 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons and a grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Powers Funeral Home with Rev. Leland Brett officiating. Interment will be in Martin Cemetery at Ferndale, Ind. Friends may call at the funeral home afternoon Sunday. – jlr
