Harold Berry Martin, 71, of Lafayette Route 9 died at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette at 12:05 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 22, 1968) where he had been a patient since Oct. 18. He had been ill for several years and seriously ill since the first of this year. Mr. Martin was born in Alamo, Sept. 28, 1897, the son of Arba J. and Lena Trotter Martin. He had lived at the present address for six years and previously had resided in the Rainesville area where he owned and operated a general store before retiring in 1962. Mr. Martin was married June 10, 1922 at Williamsport to Florence Osborne. She has been employed the past 10 years at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a former member of the Williamsport American Legion Post. Surviving besides the widow is a daughter, Mrs. Frances Kelly at home; a niece in Texas and two nephews in California. Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the DeSutter Chapel, with the Rev. Harry Randolph, pastor of the Attica Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. – jlr
