Marsh - Vivian Breaks

Graveside rites were conducted at Wheeling W. Va., January 28 for Vivian Breaks Marsh, 62, native of Crawfordsville who died in a fire that destroyed her Wheeling residence January 23, it was learned here Tuesday. The widow of a former Wheeling Steel - Corp executive was believed to have been trapped in the basement by the fire. A daughter, Mrs. Eleanor L. Haskins attempted to enter the basement but was forced back by the flames. State highway workmen recovered the body at the foot of what had been steps leading to the first floor. Mrs. Marsh was a daughter of Floris Morris Breaks and the late A. Wilbert Breaks. She was a member of Vance Memorial Presbyterian Church. Her husband, Miles Eugene Marsh Jr. preceded her in death March 12, 1961. A graduate of the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, she was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the American Genealogical Society. Surviving besides the daughter, Mrs. Lloyd O. Haskins of Schenectady, N.Y. ate a son, Miles Eugene Marsh III of Stuebenville, Ohio, the mother of Arcadia, Ind., a sister, Mrs. Carl Scudder of Windfall, Ind., and five grandchildren. Mrs. Marsh had been negotiating the sale of her house and was planning to move to Schenectady to make her home with her daughter. - kbz
