Tangier - Mrs. Armilda Catharine Marks, 89, Rt 1, Bloomingdale, former school teacher and resident of the Tangier-Sylvania community died at 9:30 p.m. Friday at her home. She attended Bloomingdale Academy and Indiana State Normal and taught in the Parke County school system. Mrs. Marks was a daughter of James and Mary Ellen Myers Allen and was born March 3, 1882 in Fountain County. She married James B. Marks June 13, 1900. He died Feb 18, 1941. She was a member of Kingman United Methodist Church, a 70-year member of Hedges Chapter 51, OES and member of Tangier Home Ec Club, Tangier-Rush Creek Missionary Society and Rush Creek Ladies Aid. Surviving are a son, Gordon Marks of Tangier; two daughters, Mrs. Doris Kelly of Bloomingdale and Mrs. Mary Catherine Graves of Tangier; a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Spencer of Brazil and four grandchildren and a great grandchild. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today at Woodrow Funeral Home in Kingman with Rev. BF Nickless officiating and burial in Rush creek Cemetery near Tangier. - kbz
