Urbana, Dec 2 – George W. Markley, formerly bridge superintendent of the Big Four railroad and long a resident of Crawfordsville, Ind died at his home in Urbana today after a long illness. Last March he retired because of ill health and was pensioned for his services which had extended over a period of 43 years. Mr. Barkley was born near Harrisburg, PA in 1849 and came to Urbana in 1904 from Crawfordsville. He served two years in the city council. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a charter member of Ben Hur Lodge at Crawfordsville. His mother in Crawfordsville, his widow and a twin brother are left. – kbz
