Manion - William Owen

William Owen Manion, 74, a retired truck driver, died at Culver Hospital early Tuesday morning after being hospitalized only a few days. Mr. Manion came to Crawfordsville in 1928 from Bedford. After his retirement from trucking he was employed as the sexton of Calvary Cemetery. He attended the Church of God, Full Gospel Mission. A son of Ambrose and Martha Helen Robertson Manion, he was born in Bonnieville, Ky. on Aug. 25, 1892. He was first married to Rosie Mae Staggs who died in 1951, and was subsequently married to Ices Lawson Phillips who survives. Surviving besides the wife are two sons, Clinton James Manion of Tucson, Ariz., and Rex Manion of Crawfordsville; two daughters, Rachel Marie Geheringer of Logansport and Mrs. Virgil Phillips of Rt. 6, Crawfordsville; 17 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Three brothers and a sister preceded him in death. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Bright Funeral Home in Crawfordsville with Rev. Frank Ryan officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home. – jlr
