Edgar C. Manges, 93, of 116 S. Vine St., died Monday morning in Henry County Hospital at New Castle. He was born Sept. 26, 1876 at Whitesville, a son of William James and Anna Kessler Manges. He attended Whitesville schools and was graduated from Crawfordsville Business College in 1899. He was married to Nellie Linn on Oct. 29, 1902. His second marriage was to Laura Bruckhart Rager on Nov. 25, 1936. He resided on a farm in the Whitesville area until his retirement in 1939 and was a member of the Whitesville Christian Church. He was a charter member of the Farm Bureau. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Harold and William of Crawfordsville, Cline of Garrett and Walter of Mace; five daughters, Mrs. Ester Rager and Mrs. Edna Smith of New Castle, Mrs. Dwight Reeves of New Market, Mrs. Merton Kistler of Joy, Ill., and Mrs. Clayton Terry of Indianapolis; two step-sons, Lawrence Rager of New Castle and George A. Rager of Crawfordsville, 24 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Minnie Davidson. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Bright Funeral Home, with Rev. Tyler Soine officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home. – jlr
