Mrs. Umatilla Mahoney, age 94, a resident of the Covington community most of her life, died at 8:30 p. m. Friday, Dec. 22, at the Rudisill Nursing Home in Covington where she had been a patient since September following two years of failing health. Mrs. Mahoney was born Feb. 6, 1867, at Wallace, a daughter of Elliot and Harriett N. Spinning Bowman. She was married July 29, 1884, to George Meitzler, who preceded her in death Aug. 16, 1921. She was later married to William L. Mahoney, who preceded her in death on Jan. 9, 1951. Mrs. Mahoney had resided in Salmon, Idaho, for several years, returning to Indiana after the death of her first husband. She was a member of the Covington Presbyterian Church, Ladies Aid, Woman's Club and Troy Chapter Order of Eastern Star No. 145. Survivors include a niece, Mrs. Mary DeHaven of Covington and several cousins. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 24, at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home. The Rev. Eric Dean officiated. Burial was in Prescott Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Fred LaTourette, Guy Faust, Tom McGurk, Don Sneath, Jim Hastings and Lawrence Dicks. --typed by Walt W
