Donald K. Martin Dies Suddenly At New Market- NEW MARKET- Donald K. Martin, 57, former grocer and lifelong New Market resident, died at his home at 8 a.m. Monday following a heart attack. Martin operated a grocery here from 1940 until 1960. He had been in poor health since November, 1961. Born April 26, 1907, in New Market, he was the son of Fred H. and Mayme Kennedy Martin. He was married Feb. 12, 1930, to Helen F. Smiley of Jamestown. Martin was a member of the New Market Methodist Church, the Waveland Masonic Lodge and the Crawfordsville Sportsmen’s club of which he was a director for several years. He was graduated from New Market High School in 1926. The survivors include the wife; a daughter, Mrs. Jane Paligraf of Crawfordsville; his mother, Mrs. Mayme D. Martin of Frankfort; a sister, Mrs. Roberta Allee, also of Frankfort; two brothers, Robert of Detroit and Chester who lives in Illinois; a granddaughter an grandson. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Noble Reeves Funeral Home in New Market. Rev. Walter Porter, assisted by Rev. Calvin Miller, will be in charge. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery at Crawfordsville. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. - transcribed by kbz
