Indianapolis, Ind Oct 18 – William A. Houlihan, motorman of the THI&E interurban car which struck an automobile on the tracks at a crossing near the Indiana Girls’ School, Sunday night as a result of which two children were killed, was arrested yesterday on a charge of manslaughter after he testified before the corner that the headlight of the interurban was not lighted. The children killed were Richard and Donald Luse, two and four years old, the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Emory Luse of Crawfordsville. Walter Wilhelm, conductor of the interurban, was released by the coroner. Houlihan testified that the headlight was burning when the car left New Ross but was out before the car reached Clermont. He was released on bond last night. With a slight improvement in their condition Mr. and Mrs. Emory Luse, who were injured Sunday night in an automobile accident near Clermont, which cost the lives of their two babies, will be brought home today from the Methodist Hospital at Indianapolis. The trip will be made in the WL Hunt ambulance. The bodies of Donald, age 4 and Richard, age 2 will arrive from Indianapolis today and will be taken to the Luse Home, 1315 Darlington Avenue. A double funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock. Mrs. Luse will be taken to Culver Union Hospital. The extent of her injuries have not been determined. Mr. Luse suffered painful but not serious injuries. Margaret Harlow, age 9, who was riding with the Luse family when their machine was struck by an interurban, escaped unhurt. Richard’s neck was broken and Donald suffered a fractured skull. – RIP dear boys - kbz
