Claude C. Lucas, 83, of Hillsboro died Wednesday Dec. 22, 1976, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Danville. Born July 2, 1893, in Shelbyville, Ill., he was the son of Charles C. and Belle Douglas Lucas. He was married June 15, 1922, in Covington to Ruth Adamson, who died in 1970. He was married in 1972 to Alta Record, who died in 1973. He was a graduate of Veedersburg High., Muncie Normal College and Palmer School of Chiropractic in Chicago. He practiced in Danville and Covington. Mr. Lucas also taught school in Fountain County and at Howe Military Academy for three yrs. He was a veteran of service with the Army Medical Corps in France during World War I. He served as Fountain County Welfare Director and retired in 1958 as a representative of the Indiana State Employment and Security Division. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hillsboro and Fountain Masonic Lodge in Covington. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Tufford of Bloomington, Ind., a step son, Carlton Hamm of Gaithersburg, Md.; and several nieces and nephews. Services at the Crumley-Williams Funeral Home in Hillsboro. The Rev. Ernest Hayden officiated. Burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery at Covington. - jlr
