Love - Lewis

Source: Crawfordsville Weekly Journal Friday 21 Feb 1902

Lewis Love, whose death occurred here Saturday evening after many months of suffering, had been a member of Co. D, 37th Indiana infantry, a regiment made famous by its chaplain, Lozier, who is known the world over as the fighting chaplain.

Mr. Love came here some years ago and became the owner of the Wilhite saw mill. Although his means were limited he has successfully run his mill, and stood well among his business associates. He was a quiet, unassuming, hard working man until stricken down with disease. He made a hard fight but was compelled to succumb and has paid the debt we all owe. He died at the age of 57 years, leaving three children all grown. He was an honorable member of Glen Lodge, I. O. O. F., of this place, who had charge of the funeral on Tuesday, Rev. Crowder officiating, at the request of the family. -s
