Hannah Long, wife of Ex-Trustee James D. Long of Democrat township died at her home about two miles east of Cutler last Friday evening after only a two days illness. Early Thursday morning she was stricken with rheumatism of the heart and lingered until Friday when the Grim Reaper won the verdict.  She had been a resident of Carroll County and of the Cutler vicinity for almost a half century and was one of the well-liked and highly  respected women of her community which through her death loses a kind neighbor and friend whose every thought was for the welfare of her friends and loved ones. Hannah Long, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Herron was born in Montgomery County, Indiana July 17, 1851 and was therefore at the time of her death, 64 years 8 months 27 days of age. At an early age she came with her parents to Carroll County where on March 4, 1873 she was united in marriage to James D. Long. The union was blessed with the birth of four children, all surviving except one son, Edwin who died in infancy.  Those who with the husband are left to mourn her departure are Charles D. Long who resides near the parental home; County Surveyor Grover C. Long of Delphi and Mrs. Estella G. Smith of near Cutler. She also leaves a brother, Frank Herron and one stepbrother, Samuel Herron both of Democrat Township.  Deceased became a member of the Cutler Presbyterian Church many years ago and was one of its faithful workers to the end.  The funeral services were held Monday morning at 10:30 at the Ball Hill ME Church, Rev. JK Bliss officiating. Interment was made in the Ball Hill cemetery.
