Lafayette—Roy G. Long, 59, Lot 49, Shadeland Mobile Home Park, died unexpectedly at 8:34 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 1989 in Lafayette Home Hospital emergency room.
He was born June 10, 1929 in Indianapolis. He had resided in Lafayette most of his lifetime, moving there from South Bend. He was married Sept. 24, 1948 in Crawfordsville to Alice May Harboldt, who preceded him in death July 12, 1976.
He was a self-employed drywall contractor. He formerly was employed as a heavy equipment operator for the Western Indiana gravel Co. at South Bend.
He was a member of Lafayette Moose Lodge.
Surviving are a son, Larry, Lafayette; four daughters, Sharon DeBoy and Wanda Gray, both of Lafayette, and Lois Long and Mrs. Melvin (Brenda) Wright, both of Waveland; six sisters, Mrs. Hercel (Kathleen) Moyer, Kingman; Mrs. Don (Mary Lou) Walker, Cabala, Texas; Mrs. Keith (Florence) Lilly, Oakland, Ore.; Mrs. Joe (Beverly) Franks, Satellite Beach, Fla.; Mrs. Ernie (Iris) Hopkins, Waveland, and Mrs. John (Vida) Larson, Winslow, Ariz.; four brothers, Bill, New Market; Larry, Frankfort; Warren, Lafayette, and Danny, Boswell; nine grandchildren; a friend Delores Floyd, Lafayette, and her daughter, Donna Walton. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Joe.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday in Hippensteel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. R. Michael Spalding officiating. Burial was in Wesley Cemetery, near Waynetown.
Moose Lodge services wee at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. -s
