Long - David 1899

Source: Crawfordsville Weekly Journal, Friday 14 July 1899

David Long, aged about sixty years, died very suddenly on Thursday at his home on the Markley farm, five miles south of the city.  He had been complaining of heart trouble for some time but for the last few days has been better and was able to come to town on Wednesday.  Mr. Long was raised near Smartsburg and except for a short time spent in Missouri he lived here all of his life.  He leaves a wife and eight children to mourn his loss.  His children are Frank, George, and Ed Long, Mrs. Elwood Newkirk, of Lebanon, Mrs James P. Grimes, Mrs. Charley Benjamin and Mrs. Chas E. Davis, of this city, and Miss Grace Long.  Mr. Long was an industrious and respected citizen and his taking off is to be deplored. – thanks to Kim H
