Lucas - David Martin

David Martin Lucas, 65 years old, committed
suicide Christmas morning by hanging himself in the barn on the farm of
his son, Earl Lucas, two and a half miles northeast of Linden.
Despondency induced by the serious illness of his daughter, Miss Ruby
Lucas, victim of an automobile accident who is in the Culver Union
Hospital is given as the cause for the deed. The act was committed while
the family was eating breakfast. The aged man left the house saying
that it was not necessary to wait breakfast on him. He was not seen
anymore until his lifeless body was found. Mr. Lucas had been in failing
health for 5 years and had spent about 9 months in a hospital in the
hope of benefiting his health. Besides the widow, he is survived by the
following children: Earl A Lucas of Urbana, Ill; RW Lucas of Dabs, Ind;
Mrs. James Roe, of Attica, ind and Miss Ruby Lucas. Funeral services
will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home. Rev. Manson
will officiate. Burial will be in Linden Cemetery. - typed by kbz
