John L. Lofland, retired farmer, died at 2 a.m. Saturday in the Carmen Nursing Home. Lofland, 82, had been in failing health for the last three months. A native of Crawfordsville, he was born on Nov. 5, 1885, to John M. and Martha E. Snyder Lofland. The deceased was married three times. His first wife, Clara C. Breaks, died in 1942. He was subsequently married to Della Elliot in 1952. She preceded him in death in 1956. On June 7, 1958 he was married to Merle Fruits who survives. He was a member of the First Christian Church. Surviving are four sons, John B. and Luther L. of Crawfordsville, Robert G. of Stockwell and James M. of New Castle; a daughter, Nora Richardson of Brownsburg; a sister, Mrs. Pearl Alexander of Albuquerque, N.M., and 13 grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Hunt & Son Funeral Home with Revs. Howard F. Miller and John R. Servies in charge. Friends may call at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
