HILLSBORO, Ind. — Otis Harlan Locke, 46, the husband of Mrs. Opal Lee Locke, who formerly made her home in Hillsboro with her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Verne Routh, died of a heart attack at their home in Crawfordsville Saturday afternoon. Funeral service was held at the residence on Pike St. in Crawfordsville Tuesday with the Rev. George King officiating and burial in the New Richmond Cemetery. He was born Oct. 9, 1907 in Linden, son of Charles Locke and Mary Patton Locke. On Sept. 10, 1942 he was married to Miss Opal Lee in Sarasota, Fla., while he was serving in the Army in World War II. He was a member of the New Richmond Christian Church and the Crawfordsville American Legion.
Funeral services for Otis Harlan Locke were held Tuesday afternoon at the family home, 908 W. Pike St., with Byron Cox post of the American Legion conducting rites at the graveside in the New Richmond Cemetery. The Rev. George T. King, pastor of the First Baptist Church, was the officiating minister. Assisting as pallbearers were Emory Gardner, Clifford Andrews, Carl Burnett, James Sabens, Gerald Eitnier and John Lowe. The honorary pallbearers were James Shumate, James Smith, Russell Lashley, Wayne Rickey, Paul Clements and Perry Hamilton. Mrs. Zelma See and Mrs. Dorothy Elmore sang "In the Garden" and "Face to Face." Those who helped with the flowers were Mary Sabens, Imogene Gardner, Ruth Burnett, Mary Armfield, Nellie Eitnier, Waneta Andrews, Jerry Rickey, Della Mary McFarland, Marjorie Hendricks, Doris Hendricks, Marjorie Paxton, Grace Lee, Lucille Bianconni, Mrs. Ralph McCormick, Mrs. H. D. Kindell, Mrs. William Stoker and Louise Wolf. The Legion's military escort was commanded by Ed Dickerson. The bugler was Charles Cox. Other members of the escort were Harry L. Burke, Roland Tauscher, Robert Payne, Paul Sanford, Harold Williams, Charles Curtin, Glover Ellis, Fay Williams and Ewell Curran. Mr. Locke, a World War II veteran, who served two years as an Army sergeant in the South Pacific, died at his home here Saturday afternoon. He was an employe of the Hoosier Crown Corp. Otis Harlan Locke, 46, an emloyee of the Hoosier Crown Corp., died at his home, 908 W. Pike St., at 2:30 p. m. Saturday. Death was sudden, following a heart attack. The deceased served two years overseas during World War II as a U. S. Army S/Sgt. in the South Pacific and New Caledonia. Born in Linden on Oct. 9, 1907, he was the son of Charles Locke and Mary Locke Patton, On Sept. 10, 1942, he married Opal Lee at Sarasota, Fla. She survives him in death. He was a member of the New Richmond Christian Church and also of the Crawfordsville American Legion. Survivors include the widow; his mother, Mrs. Mary Locke Patton of Crawfordsville; one son, Charles of Louisville, Ky., and one half-brother, Robert G. Patton of Crawfordsville. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p. m. at the residence, 908 W. Pike St. Rev. George King will officiate, and burial will be in New Richmond Cemetery. He served two years in World War II. Born in Linden in 1907, he was the son of Charles and Mary Locke Patton. On Sept. 10, 1942, he was married to Opal Lee at Sarasota, Fla. She survives with his mother; one son, Charles, of Louisville, Ky., and a half-brother, Robert G. Patton, of Crawfordsville. He was a member of the New Richmond Christian Church and of the Crawfordsville American Legion. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the residence at W. Pike St. The Rev.
