Livengood - Charles Andrew

Charles A. Livengood, a former resident of Waveland, died at his home at "Needmore" near the Green Township school shortly afternoon on Saturday. He was found by a neighbor Raymond McClain lying by the side of the house in which he had been living alone except occasional visits form his daughter, Mrs. Owen Moore of Russellville who was called. He had not been ill but suffered from heart trouble which also caused the death of his wife. Funeral services on Monday morning at Mt. Moriah chuch were in charge of Rev. Cornelius Airhart. The pall bearers were Dale McClain, Everett McClain, Virgil Vaught, Raymond Psencer, Rhom Johnson and Carl Porter. The flowers were carried by grandchildren, Mrs. Fred Bellas and Mrs. Rossie Spencer sang. Burial in the cemetery adjoining the church. Mr. Livengood was the son of John and Christina Livengood and was born on a farm near Darlington, June 28, 1858. He married Melissa Stark now dead Dec 22, 1887. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Owen Moore of Russellville and Mrs. Frank Porter of Portland, a son, David Livengood of Jacksonville, Ill. One son, John is dead. There are six grandchildren. Except for the short time he lived in Waveland his mature years have been spent in Green township of which he served as trustee from 1908 to 1914.

The will of James A. Livengood (sic -- should be Charles) of Green Twp, whose death recently occurred, has been admitted to probate in Parke Circuit Court. Provision was made for the payment of just debts and funeral expenses and the residue of the estate was bequeathed to the 3 children of Mr. Livengood, share & share alike. The children are Jessie Irene Moore of Russellville, David C. Livengood of Jacksonville, Ill and Hazel C. Porter of Portland, Ind. The son was nominated exec. The instrument was dated Dec 7, 1937 and witnessed by Byron G. Jenkins and Keith Fraser.
