WAVELAND – Joseph Raymond Lively, 72, of 200 McKinley St., Waveland, died at 3:58 a.m. Sunday in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Lafayette. Mr. Lively had retired in 1971 after 30 years of employment as a car man for Monon Railroad at Lafayette. He was a member of Car Men’s Union, Local 556. He was born March 11, 1906, at Walnut Ridge, Ark. He was reared at Lafayette and had lived there until moving to Waveland seven years ago. He was married to the former Farrell Mae Cox, who died in 1948. On Sept. 20, 1957, he was married at Wesley to the former Evalena Brooks Linton, who survives. Other survivors are two sons, Joseph R. Lively Jr. of Lafayette and James F. Lively of Kokomo; a daughter, Mrs. William (Ruth) Riegle of Lafayette; a stepson, Donald Linton of Waveland; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Helen Beaver of Indianapolis; a brother, Benjamin Lively of Flint, Mich.; six grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Hippensteel Funeral Home at Lafayette with Dr. Joseph G. Wick officiating. Interment will be in Springvale Cemetery at Lafayette.
