THORNTOWN – Mrs. Kate Little, 85, for many years a resident here, died at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Carmen Nursing Home at Crawfordsville after an illness of two years. She had lived in this community 40 years and prior to that in Darlington. A daughter of Nelson and Rebecca Mann Lowery, she was born Feb. 21, 1883, near Clarks Hill. She married Alf Little in Lafayette on Aug. 1, 1900. He died Jan. 25, 1953. Mrs. Little was a member of Thorntown Christian Church and active in its Dorcas Sunday School Class and was a former member of Sugar Creek Home Demonstration Club. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Archie Smith of South Bend and Mrs. Claude Mitchell of Crawfordsville; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Ora Loveless of Kokomo. A daughter, son and six sisters are deceased. Funeral rites are at 2 p.m. Friday at Russell and Hitch Funeral Home here, where friends may call after 7 p.m. Thursday. Rev. J. D. Blake will officiate, with burial in Maple Lawn Cemetery. – jlr
