Linn - Joseph Ray

Joseph R. Linn, one of the best known retired farmers living in Crawfordsville, died at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Jennie ARMENTROUT, at 12:30 o'clock this noon. Mr. Linn was born at Symmes Corner, Butler county, Ohio, June 16, 1836, and moved with his mother to Montgomery county in 1846, and since that time has lived either in Walnut or Union township. On February 7, 1861, he was married to Mary Ellen WARD and in the fall of the following year he enlisted in Co. K, 86th Indiana Infantry, and served until the close of the civil war. After the war he took up the occupation of farming in Union township and continued until 1898, when he retired and has since been living with his daughter. He was the father of eleven children, six of whom survive: Mrs. Fannie CONNER of Mace, Henry C. Linn of New Ross, Mrs. Clarence BERRY of Greencastle, Hugh W. [Uzel] Linn of Covington, Mrs. Jennie Armentrout and Dr. W. T. Linn of Crawfordsville. He was an elder in the Union Presbyterian church, east of Mace, and the funeral service will be held there on Thursday at 11 o'clock. Please post, Pegeen Soare
