Lewsader - Ruth Meharry

COVINGTON - Mrs. Ruth Pearl Lewsader, 78, of 720 Pearl, died at 12:05 a.m. Dec. 15 at her residence. She had been ill since January. Born Oct. 19, 1895, in Gessie, she was the daughter of William and Martha Holycross MeHarry. She was married April 2, 1916, to Sherman William Lewsader, who survives. She had resided on a farm south of Veedersburg from 1931 to 1962 and had lived in Covington since that time. Well known for her devotion to orphaned children, she was a member of New Century Church, New Century Ladies Aid and the Ladies Aid of First Church of Christ, Covington. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Martha Ann Price of Covington; a sister, Mrs. Ruby Ludlow of Covington; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde MeHarry, and a granddaughter. Services were at 2 p.m. EST Monday at the Hegg Funeral Home, with the Rev. Edgar Allen officiating. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery. - jlr
