Lewis - Elizabeth Whie Young

Mrs. Elizabeth Lewis, 80-year-old former resident of this city, died Tuesday afternoon in hospital at Logansport. She had been a patient there since last October. Mrs. Lewis resided here five years, making her home with a son, Roscoe Young, at 112 Wilhoit St. Prior to that, she lived in Romney. She was born in Tompkinsville Ky., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James White. She was twice married. She first was married in 1905 to Walter Young. Her second marriage, in 1938, was to Alva Lewis. Mr. Lewis died in November of 1959. Survivors include the son with whom she made her home prior to entering the hospital, and another son, Ralph Young of Detroit, Mich.; a daughter, Mrs. Thomas Rusk of Danville, Ill.; a brother, Thomas White of Linden; 28 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Dickerson Funeral Home in Stockwell with Rev. N. L. Holland officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery at Romney. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Thursday. – jlr
