Charles Lewis, once of this city, recently in the lumber business in Buffalo, died in that city and his body was brought here for burial at the Masonic Cemetery. First it was taken to the undertaking establishment of D. C. Barnhill where exercises were held on Saturday morning, Rev. Tharp of the Christian Church reading the full Episcopalian burial service. There are no immediate members of the Lewis family residing here but there were many old friends present at the services. Frank and Miss Mattie Lewis of Chicago, brother and sister came down to the funeral. The cause of death was consumption. The deceased learned the printing business of Mr. Jere Keeney, Sr. in the old Journal 30 years ago, after that being engaged in the lumber business for the late Mrs. Frank Cox. He was an excellent man. He had at one time a wife and two children but all are dead.- kbz
