John Ralph Lewellen died at 4 p.m. Monday in Boswell Hospital at Sun City, Ariz. Mr. Lewellen had been a farmer and done saw mill work. He was educated in Crawfordsville schools. He was born March 1, 1899 in Montgomery County to Harve and Lida Steele Lewellen. He married Mabel Wray April 9, 1919. She preceded him in death in 1974. Surviving are 7 sons: Robert of Browns Valley; Harold "Red" of New Market; Eston of Elizabethtown NY; Kenneth of Tucson, A Z; Harvey of Glendale, AZ; Byron of Crawfordsville; and Keith of Bardstown, NY; 3 daughter, Norma Redinger and Mrs. John (Darlene) Kohtz both of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Jerry (Betty Jane) Walker of Washington, DC; 35 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, a brother and 3 grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with Bishop Stephen Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home.
