Archie A. Lewellen, 74 of Rt. 3, died at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Veterans Hospital in Indianapolis. He had been ill there since June 26. He was born Oct 12, 1889 at Alamo to Thomas and Frances Moore Lewellen. He was married Oct 18, 1911 to Catherine I. Pagett at Charleston, SC. He attended the Baptist Church. He worked at the Waynetown Grain Co. Elevator for 32 years before he became a carpenter. He served in WWI. He was made a captain in 1917, a major in 1918 and was discharged in 1919. He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Charles McClamroch of Crawfordsville; Mrs. Warren Tague; Mrs. Robert Iberra and Mrs. William Brown all of California; one son, Arnold Lewellen of Waveland; 33 grandchldren; 28 great grandchildren ; two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Douglas and Mrs. Roy Graves, both of Crawafordsville; two brothers Herbert Lewellen of Waynetown and Edward Lewellen of Crawfordsville. He was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother. Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Servies Funeral Home at Waynetown. Rev. Guy E. Tremaine will officiate. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery at Waynetown. Friends may call at the funeral home - transcribed by kbz
