Byford F. Lemon, 81, of Rt. 2, Crawfordsville, died Friday afternoon in Culver Hospital. Mr. Lemon was a former MidStates employee, retiring in 1954. He attended the Baptist Church and was a member of Eagles, Moose and VFW Auxilary (Auxiliary). He was graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1918 and attended Wabash and Chicago Universities. He was born March 24, 1899, at Anderson, a son of William Henry and Mary Evelyn Coberly Lemon. He was married to Rosemary Reiter Oct. 24, 1926, at Chicago. Mr. Lemon is survived by a son, Boyd of 17 Lake Shore Drive; a daughter, Delores Nichols of Rt. 2, Crawfordsville; two nephews, Harvey of Crawfordsville and Jack of Frankfort; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Claude. Services are at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Hunt & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Hainer officiating. Burial will be in Park Cemetery at Greenfield. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday. -- smc
