Waynetown – Edna Louise Legg 65 of Waynetown died Saturday in Winona Hospital at Indianapolis. She was employed at Mefford & Co. at Crawfordsville as a clerical worker. She was a life resident of Waynetown and was a member of the Waynetown Baptist Church, Waynetown Order of Eastern Star Chapter 435; and Maple Grove Home Extension Club. She was state president of Indiana Cattlewomen and active on the National Council of Cattlewomen. Mrs. Legg was active in the Montgomery County Republican Party, holding many offices; was a member of Psi Iota Xi Sorority of Waynetown; and taught the Delta Alpha Sunday School Class for many years. She was a 1941 graduate of Waynetown HS. Mrs. Legg was born Dec 14, 1923, to Spiceland, Ind to Curtis Leroy and Jesse Fruits Smith. At seven months of age she was adopted by John Barnett and Mary Catherine Kline. She married Hale Legg on May 18, 1941 at Waynetown. He survives. Also surviving are a son, David of Waynetown; a daughter, Mrs. Arley (Pauline) Alexander of Rt 1, Waynetown; four brothers, Roy Smith of California; Lester Smith of Minnesota and Ralph Smith and Russell Kline, both of Crawfordsville; a sister, Mrs. Edith Snyder of Rt 1, Waynetown; and five granddaughters. A brother, Kenneth Smith is deceased. Funeral services are scheduled at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Thomas Funeral Home at Waynetown with with Revs. James Ranard and James Hatfield officiating. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
