Source: Crawfordsville Weekly Journal Friday, 18 December 1896
A telegram from Chicago was received in this city last Friday announcing that Mrs. Mary Ann Lee, for forty years and until recently a citizen of this city, had died there suddenly at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Georgia Lucas.
Mary Ann Bunch was born in Granger County, Tenn., in 1822, moved to Elkton, Todd County, Ky., in 1825, and came to Crawfordsville in 1854, and since has resided here until she recently moved to Chicago to live with her daughter. In 1862 she was married to James Lee, who preceded her to the grave by a number of years. Her daughters, Mrs. Georgia Lucas, of Chicago, and Mrs. Vieve Shelley, of Binghampton, N. Y. survive her.
Mrs. Lee was for sixty years a faithful, consistent member of the Baptist Church, and her many friends are pained to hear of her death. The remains were brought here at 1:15 Saturday and the funeral occurred Sunday. -s
