Word was received Wednesday by Mrs. H. Alexander from Hugo, Oregon, that her brother, C. C. Lee, had died in that place May the 4th. The deceased was a native of Montgomery County, having been born and raised here. He was the oldest son of the late Daniel and Charlotte Lee and was about sixty five years of age. In the year fifty five he was married to Miss Mary Harrison of Ladoga, she being a niece of Daniel Stover of this city. In the same year, he with his young bride immigrated to Linn County, Iowa. From there they went with his father-in-law, W. R. Harrison and family, to Red Bluffs, Cal., going overland, it taking them six months to make the trip. Staying there for ten years, he removed with his family back to his native home. Remaining here three years he again turned his face westward and went with his family to Oregon, locating on a farm and there remained while he lived. He leaves a wife and four children, four sisters and two brothers to mourn their loss.
His was a kind and loving nature, endearing himself to all who knew him. Possessing a noble and generous disposition and being a true Christian it can truly be said of him that those who knew him most loved him best. The family has our kindest sympathy in this their great bereavement. In his death his wife has lost a dear companion, his children a kind and loving father, his sisters and brothers a noble and generous brother. We feel loath to give him up yet we feel that our loss is his great and glorious gain. - thanks S :)
