Romney – Mrs. Ruth Leaming, 70, wife of Curwen Leaming died at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday in an ambulance en route to a Lafayette Hospital. Her death was attributed to an apparent heart attack. Mrs. Leaming was a life-long resident of Romney community. She was graduated from Romney HS and attended Purdue University.  The deceased was born July 1, 1895 the daughter of Martha Malsbary Riston and Cassius M. Riston. She was married at Romney Dec 9, 1916. Mrs. Leaming was a member of the Romney Methodist Church. She was a past matron of the OES at Romney and also held membership in the WSCS and Romney Literary Club. The deceased was a life member of the Home Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and served as area chairman of the organization’s fair held last week at Lafayette. Surviving in addition to the husband are a daughter, Mrs. Alvin E. Morehouse of West Lafayette; a son, Marion C. Leaming of Balm Beach Shore, Fla; a sister, Mrs. Leadda Martin of Rt 1, Romney and granddaughter, four grandsons and nephew.  Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Romney Methodist Church in charge of Rev. Richard Bowman with Rev. Roy Sturm of Evanston, Ill assisting.  The body will lie n state at the church for one hour preceding the services. Friends may pay their respects at the Leaming residence at the intersection of US 231 and Ind 28 from 4 until 10 p.m. Friday. - kbz
