The funeral of Mrs. Jane Lane (sic) wife of Dr. P.M. Layne (sic) took place form the family residence last Thursday afternoon. It was largely attended.

Died: at the residence of her husband in Crawfordsville, October 17, 1875 in the 43rd year of her age. Mrs. Minerva G. Layne, wife of Dr. PM Layne, Mrs. Layne was born in Crawfordsville on the 17th day of August 1832, and was married to her now bereft husband on the 25th day of December, 1856. Her parents both died when she was but six years of age, thus leaving her without either the protection of a father, or the tender, affectionate, watch care which none but a mother can give. And yet, though so early deprived of these important and almost necessary protections of tender childhood, there was from year to year developed in her those virtues and graces which so beautify and adorn female character. She was modest and retiring as a young lady, faithful and devoted as a wife, affection and loving as a mother. And though she suffered severly during her last sickness, her end was quiet and peaceful. Just before she died she asured her husband that she was prepared and ready for the exchange of worlds.
