Dr. Florence W. Layne, 80, of Edinburg, Tex., who practiced as an osteopathic physician in Crawfordsville for 20 years, died suddenly at 6 a.m. Saturday at her home. She was a member here of St. Bernard Catholic Church and also of the American Association of University Women. She was graduated from high school in Pennsylvania and from Smith College at Northampton, Mass., and obtained her medical degree at Kirksville, Mo. A native of Oil City, Pa., she was a daughter of John M. and Mary E. Webb and was born Dec. 12, 1890. She married Dr. Lloyd Layne in 1920 in Missouri. Surviving are her husband, of Rt. 4; two sons, Dan W. of Edinburg, Tex., and Donald L. of Rt. 4; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy L. Amastadt of Cocoa, Fla., and three grandchildren. A funeral mass will be held at Edinburg Monday. Friends may call at Powers Funeral Home here after 4 p.m. Tuesday, and the Rosary will be recited at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Graveside rites will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.-- waw
