Lawson - Dan

Dan Lawson, 64, a resident of Tangier practically his entire life, suffered a heart attack while fishing in Sugar Creek near Rockport Bridge, Thurs. afternoon at 5 o'clock and drowned before his two companions could reach him. Mr. Lawson had gone fishing early Thurs. afternoon with two friends and was wading in the creek when he suffered the fatal attack. His companions were standing on the bank of the creek several yards away when they saw him fall over but were unable to reach him before he drowned. The deceased was born. in Parke County on June 2, 1868 and was a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Lawson. At the time of his death he was living on a farm one and one-half miles So. of Tangier. Mr. Lawson is survived by his widow, Mrs. Rosa Lawson; two daughters, Mrs. Edith Maris of Tangier and Mrs. Mavis Wears of Clinton and one son, Clyde of Bloomingdale. Funeral services were conductedat the home on Sun. afternoon at 2 o'clock. The body was removed to the GW Spencer undertaking parlors at Kingman, where the Parke Co. coroner pronounced death as accidental.
