Lawson - Ada Carpenter

Mrs. Ada Carpenter Lawson, 92, died Wednesday evening (Jan. 26, 1972) at the Lutheran Home for the Aged in Madrid, Iowa. She had resided there the past 2-1/2 years. The daughter of Frank and Lesta Davidson Carpenter, she was born in March 1879 in the Osborne Prairie area in Fountain County and the Mellott neighborhood. The family moved to Muncie where they farmed and the mother operated a family restaurant which was later operated for 30 years by Mrs. Lawson. She was married to Edward Lawson in Muncie, who died 10 years ago. Surviviors include two daughters Mrs. Carl (Lois) Dille of Jewel, Iowa, and Miss Virginia Lawson of Chicago; two sisters, Mrs. Charles (Iva) Stone of Houston, Tex., and Mrs. Carl (Osie) Johnson of Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Meeks Mortuary in Muncie, with burial in that city. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Friday.  --Typed by Debby Masterson.
