Source: Daily News Review, Crawfordsville, Indiana July 3, 1900

George Larkin, a well known citizen of the county, residing near Wesley dropped dead Monday afternoon from heart disease. He was working in a shallow cistern and having carried down a bucket of cement had just started back up the ladder when he relaxed his hold and fell back expiring instantly. He had been a sufferer from heart trouble two years but it is probable that the extreme heat hastened his end. Mr. Larkin was a good citizen and was held in the highest esteem in his community. He leaves a wife and two children, Miss Lyda and Dr. C.E. Larkin of Chicago. The funeral takes place at 1 p.m. Wednesday - kbz

George W. Larkin was born May 10, 1846 in Cayuga County, N. Y., at which place he lived until three years of age, when with his parents, Edmund F. Larkin and Almira Shue, moved to Cleveland, Ohio. Seven years later they moved to Branch   County, Mich. In November, 1867, he came to Montgomery  County, making his home with his uncle, J. H. Shue, since which time he has resided in this locality.

When at the age of twenty years, he united with the Advent Church, remaining in that faith until 1880 when he affiliated with the Baptist Church at Waynetown,  Ind. From that time until death he remained a faithful and consistent member.

He was married to Martha E. Vaughan Dec. 1, 1872. To them were born two children, Dr. Edmund F. Larkin, of Chicago, and Eliza A. His death occurred July 2, 1900, at the age of 54 years, 1 month and 22 days.

He was a kind husband and indulgent father who lived an upright, honest life that might be likened to the open book which he who runs may read.

Funeral service was held at Wesley Chapel conducted by Knights of Pythias. Sermon was preached by Rev. J. W. Henson, pastor of Waynetown  Baptist Church at 2 o’clock July 4. – thanks to S for this one
