Mrs. Kathryn "Katie" Briles Lang, 81, of 219 Elm Drive, died at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday (March 18, 1975) at St. Elizabeth Hospital at Danville. She had been admitted earlier and had been ill since November. She had been dismissed from the hospital Sunday after being a patient for 10 days. Born Nov 20, 1893, in Vermillion County, she was the daughter of Cyrus and Catherine Hughes Briles. In January of 1914 at Covington, she was married to Guy M. Lang, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Lang was a member of the Marantha Baptist Church at Covington and Troy-Wabash Home Extension Club. A 1913 graduate of Covington High, she had been employed as a nurses aide at St. Elizabeth Hospital and at Danville Care Nursing Home and was also a private duty nurse. Prior to that, she worked in cafeterias at Covington, Stone Bluff and Veedersburg. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Claude (Maxine) Coon of Veedersburg Route 3, Mrs. Frank (Mona) Harbruger of Terre Haute, Mrs. Charles (Doris Jean) Clark of Newtown and Mrs. Don (Judy) Maltsberger of Veedersberg Route 2; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five brothers. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the DeVerter Funeral Home, with the Rev. Alfred Dobbs and the Rev. Fred Leonard officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery at Covington. Friends will be received from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Funeral Home. --Typed by Debby Masterson.
